“Clean Environment and Clean Air” Activities Carried Out Under the Solidarity Circle Project

The International Active Cities Association carried out two important activities to raise environmental awareness and promote an active lifestyle as part of the project titled “Solidarity Circle: Volunteer Hands in Sports” with the code 2024-3-TR01-ESC30-SOL- 000276733. In this phase of the project, volunteers united around the themes of “Clean Air” and “Clean Environment,” engaging in physical activity while raising social awareness.

Pedaling for Clean Air and an Active Lifestyle A bike tour was organized to highlight the importance of clean air and an active lifestyle, with the participation of a group of 20 volunteers. Participants had the opportunity to move without harming nature by taking this tour without using motor vehicles, and were encouraged to move away from a sedentary lifestyle and adopt a more active one. During the event, the positive effects of clean air on human health were experienced firsthand, and information was provided on the contributions that reducing the use of motor vehicles in daily life would make to the environment and individual health.

Ecological Solidarity and Environmental Cleanup in the Forest Another activity of the project, the trash collection event, was carried out in a forested area to raise social awareness and reinforce environmental consciousness. During the activity, participants were divided into

groups of four and, while trying to find hidden objects using maps, also collected trash in their surroundings. When determining the winner of the competition, emphasis was placed on ecological responsibility by considering not only speed but also the weight of the collected trash. When the words found on the objects discovered by the groups were combined, the phrase “We must create a clean world together” emerged, forming the main message of the day. All collected waste was sorted by type and delivered to the relevant recycling areas.

This meaningful day, which strengthened the understanding of volunteerism and social responsibility, ended successfully with a meal where all participants came together and had conversations about healthy living.
